Chalobah Expected to Replace Marc Guehi in England Selection

Chelsea defender in action

The Chelsea star followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st duo of brothers to earn caps for the national team.

The Chelsea defender is likely to be added to the England squad to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to meet up with the squad for England's last World Cup qualifying matches against Albania and Serbia, although it has still not been officially announced.

The national side have already secured qualification for next summer's competition.

Chalobah earned his maiden selection under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unfortunate to be left out from the selection for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and also omitted him for the following October matches.

Tuchel has been an key influence in Chalobah's development, having handed him his Chelsea first-team bow in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in almost every fixtures for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the team in third place in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the league phase of the European competition.

Guehi suffered a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Conference League victory over the Dutch side in their last match.

There are likely to be further additions to the squad. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has announced that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the England setup.
