'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Young People Await Information After Alpine Fire

Teenage Swiss national Arthur Brodard is one of those unaccounted for.

The families of young people unaccounted for after a deadly fire at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an agonising wait for confirmed information and requesting clues about their family members publicly.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Confirmed video depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and injured another scores more. Officials said on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to name the other six.

In the meantime, relatives have been using the internet to appeal for any news about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his parent.

The who lives of a town near the city, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she said.

She explained that some of his peers had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's foreign ministry has indicated that a number of of its nationals have not been located.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last in contact around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, his father said.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old promising athlete, originally from Genoa but now living in the UAE.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the fire, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An representative has stated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Further Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His parent told reporters that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and found himself at the venue.

"A companion told me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators commented, "I remember his kindness and smile, alongside great responsibility. Every time offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on that night, according to sources.

Her sibling has shared an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are actively engaged with the situation.
